On July 9, Ryanair officially opened a new base in Tangiers, having started operations in May 2024. This is the airline's fourth base in Morocco.
The new base comprises two aircraft and offers 25 routes, including 13 new connections to 8 European cities and 5 Moroccan destinations for summer 2024. As usual, Ryanair promises attractive low-cost fares on 11 Moroccan domestic routes, aimed at boosting internal connectivity and stimulating traffic growth across the country.
New routes and destinations
For the international network, Ryanair is introducing new routes to :
- Baden-Baden
- Barcelona
- Carcassonne
- Eindhoven
- Lisbon
- Manchester
- Memmingen
- Porto
It also links Tangier with cities such as Bordeaux, Brussels Charleroi, Düsseldorf Weeze, London Stansted, Madrid, Malaga, Marseille, Milan Bergamo, Paris Beauvais, Rome Ciampino, Toulouse and Valencia. New domestic routes in Morocco include flights to Agadir, Essaouira, Marrakech, Ouarzazate and Oujda.
Expansion and economic impact
Ryanair plans to increase capacity at Tangier by 70% for summer 2024, part of its record-breaking summer program across 12 Moroccan airports, with a forecast to carry over 5 million passengers, representing 31% growth. Ryanair's investment in Morocco now totals $1.4 billion, supporting over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs and stimulating economic growth in cities such as Rabat, Marrakech, Fez, Agadir, Tetouan, Essaouira, and Nador.
