In June 2024, Ryanair recorded its busiest month ever, carrying over 19 million passengers for the first time in 40 years, despite difficulties due to understaffed air traffic controllers.
The Dublin-based low-cost airline carried 19.3 million passengers across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East in June 2024. This represents an 11% increase on the 17.4 million passengers carried in June 2023. Overall, the Ryanair group (including Buzz, Lauda Europe, Malta Air and Ryanair UK) carried 188.8 million passengers in the 12 months to June 30, 2024, an increase of 9% on the 173.4 million recorded in the same period in 2022/23. The network's overall load factor remained stable at 95%, identical to that of June 2023.
This success and growth were achieved despite significant delays and the cancellation of several flights at the end of the month due to staff shortages at several air traffic control centers across Europe.
