Transavia France Plans to Expand Its Fleet by 12 Aircraft by Summer 2025
Transavia France, the low-cost subsidiary of Air France-KLM, plans to increase its fleet by 12 aircraft by the summer of 2025, bringing its total to 87 planes. This expansion is primarily aimed at strengthening existing routes, as announced by the airline on Tuesday during the IFTM Top Resa tourism trade show in Paris.
“We will continue our growth in 2025 with rates similar to those observed between 2023 and 2024, around 15%,” said Nicolas Henin, Deputy General Manager of Commercial and Marketing at Transavia, to AFP. The airline's fleet will have doubled in five years. This growth will be made possible by the arrival of new Airbus A320neo aircraft, with the fleet set to grow from five planes currently to 19 by 2025.
Transavia plans to replace its entire Boeing 737-700 and 737-800 fleet with Airbus A320neo and A321neo models over the next seven years, following the order placed by parent company Air France-KLM in late 2021. With around 120 destinations served, the airline will continue focusing on growing its connections to European capitals and key Mediterranean destinations.
During the trade show, Transavia also provided a review of the 2024 summer season. While the start of summer saw moderate activity, partly due to the Olympic Games, August showed a strong recovery, described as "very good" by Mr. Henin, with a "catch-up effect" driven by last-minute bookings. Overall, summer results exceeded expectations. The airline also reported a positive trend for the autumn, with strong bookings for September, October, and November.
