Korean Air has taken a significant step towards the renewal and sustainable expansion of its fleet by announcing the acquisition of 33 Airbus A350s, including 27 A350-1000 models and six A350-900s, for a total of $13.7 billion. This strategic order is in line with the company's sustainable development objectives, and paves the way for the integration of Asiana Airlines.
The A350-1000, the largest member of the A350 Family, offers a capacity of 350 to 410 passengers, and features reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions up to 25% lower than previous-generation aircraft of similar size. With a record flight range of up to 16,000 km, it represents an ideal solution for long-haul routes such as Seoul-Incheon-New York.
The slightly smaller A350-900 version offers a range of 15,370 km for 300 to 350 passengers, also suited to the airline's long-haul operations.
Alongside this major commitment to Airbus, Korean Air plans to introduce 50 Airbus A321neo, 10 Boeing 787-9, 20 Boeing 787-10, and 30 Boeing 737-8 aircraft, underlining its ambition to modernize its fleet with more efficient and environmentally-friendly aircraft.
