AutoFlight's First Flying Taxi Delivered in Japan, Marking a Turning Point in Air Mobility
In a spectacular breakthrough for air mobility, AutoFlight celebrated the delivery of its first eVTOL Prosperity aircraft to an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) operator in Japan on April 3, 2024. The delivery, which took place in Shanghai, represents the world premiere of a civil eVTOL ton-class aircraft, and introduces the five-seat Prosperity to the emerging air transport sector.
The Japanese recipient, whose identity will be revealed shortly, plans to field the Prosperity for demonstration flights at the Osaka World Expo 2025, anticipating a wider deployment of the AAM in Japan. This event follows AutoFlight's success in carrying out the world's first intercity electric air cab demonstration flight between Shenzhen and Zhuhai, proving Prosperity's ability to revolutionize travel in densely populated areas.
The achievement underlines AutoFlight's ambition to dominate the air mobility market with innovative electric aircraft. In addition to the Prosperity, AutoFlight has also made significant strides with its cargo model, the CarryAll, which received type certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China in March 2024. This eVTOL aircraft, with a maximum take-off weight of 2 tonnes, is scheduled for large-scale commercial operations, highlighting the viability of eVTOL technology for a range of commercial applications.
AutoFlight's commitment to innovation is underpinned by over 10,000 eVTOL flights completed to date, and growing recognition from major players in global logistics, such as ZTO Express, which has ordered 30 units of the CarryAll. The company continues to pave the way for a new era of air mobility, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between technology developers, regulators and end-users to realize the full potential of AAM.
The delivery of the Prosperity to Japan represents a significant step towards realizing AutoFlight's vision for a future of efficient, sustainable and accessible air mobility. With the support of European technology holding company Team Global, AutoFlight reinforces its position as a pioneer in eVTOL technology, promising to transform transport paradigms worldwide.
