Delta: An even more extensive transatlantic summer 2024 schedule and new destinations
Delta Air Lines has unveiled a transatlantic schedule for summer 2024 that is even more extensive than this year's, including new destinations such as Milan and Shannon in Ireland.
Following a record-breaking summer across the Atlantic, Delta is promising customers a host of new opportunities to explore popular destinations around the world next year. This was announced by Air France - KLM's partner airline on this highly lucrative route. From various hubs across the U.S., travelers will be spoilt for choice between cities rich in history such as Naples in Italy, the verdant landscapes of Shannon in Ireland, the picturesque charm of Zurich in Switzerland, as well as many other memorable destinations.
Joe Esposito, Senior Vice President, Network Planning, commented: "There's never been a better time to discover Europe with Delta. Customers looking for summer adventures abroad will find a plethora of inspiring options, accompanied by the premium services and amenities Delta customers appreciate." As the leading carrier to Europe, Africa and the Middle East from its JFK hub, Delta will operate nearly 260 weekly flights next summer, serving 18 countries and 29 destinations across the region.
For the first time, Delta will operate non-stop service from New York's JFK airport to Italy's charming city of Naples, gateway to the Amalfi Coast and must-see sites such as Mount Vesuvius. The new daily service to Naples, starting May 23, 2024, complements the airline's existing routes to Milan, Venice and Rome.
Delta is also reinstating its non-stop service to Shannon, Ireland, from JFK from May 23, 2024. This route, which had been out of service since 2019, joins Delta's existing flights to Dublin, including the recently announced new service from Minneapolis-Saint Paul. Complementing the new transatlantic offerings from JFK next summer, a non-stop flight to Munich will operate three times a week from April 9, 2024.
Delta customers looking for flights from Atlanta to Paris and Venice this summer will have more choice, as the airline increases its weekly frequencies to these two flagship destinations. Delta is the only carrier offering an early morning departure from JFK to Paris.
For those wishing to visit Switzerland, Delta will once again offer a non-stop flight between Atlanta and Zurich four times a week from May 31, 2024. This will add to the nearly 180 weekly flights to 21 destinations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East from the airline's home city.
On the U.S. West Coast, the daily non-stop flight between LAX (Los Angeles) and Auckland, New Zealand, starting on October 28, 2023, will be expanded to become a year-round service, operating daily from November to March and three times a week from April to October. Delta will also increase the frequency of flights between LAX and Sydney, Australia, to twice a day from next December.
After offering winter service to Shanghai from Seattle and Detroit, Delta will reintroduce four-times-weekly year-round service to Shanghai-Pudong International Airport from its Los Angeles hub from March 31, 2024. This previously operated route will provide Delta customers with easy connections to many other cities in China, thanks to the partnership with China Eastern Airlines.
Delta currently serves 13 international cities from LAX, including Paris, London, Tokyo-Haneda and Sydney, thanks to the brand-new Delta Sky Way at LAX. The $2.3 billion Delta Sky Way project at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has been completed ahead of schedule, with the unveiling of the final major phase by Delta Air Lines and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). First announced in 2018, a year after Delta's transfer from Terminals 5 and 6 to Terminals 2 (T2) and 3 (T3), the Delta Sky Way project has modernized and connected the latter two terminals, with the latest phase offering a direct connection from T3 to Tom Bradley International Terminal.
