At its annual general meeting in Amsterdam, Airbus renewed its commitment to its 2024 production target, despite ongoing supply chain obstacles. The European aircraft manufacturer remains on track, with 142 aircraft already delivered in the first quarter, and maintains its target of 800 deliveries for the full year.
However, current single-aisle production is below internal expectations, at around 50 aircraft per month. To reach the target of 75 single-aisle aircraft per month by 2026, Airbus plans to accelerate production. Despite these challenges, the company is confident in its ability to achieve these figures, thanks to measures taken to increase resources and optimize production processes.
Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury underlined the company's ability to navigate in an environment marked by geopolitical uncertainty and significant logistical challenges. He also mentioned growing cost pressures following the investments needed to increase production capacity, which exceeded expectations at the start of the year.
At the same meeting, Airbus shareholders took key decisions, approving a partial renewal of the Board of Directors as well as a special dividend of one euro per share, representing a total of almost 800 million euros, in addition to the regular dividend which remains unchanged.
This renewed confidence and the robustness of Airbus' plans demonstrate a determination to overcome obstacles and continue to play a leading role in the global aerospace industry.
