Airbus Accelerates with 49 Aircraft Delivered to 28 Airlines by February 2024
Airbus maintained a steady pace in February 2024, delivering 49 aircraft to 28 airlines, as revealed in its latest monthly orders and deliveries report. This performance brings total deliveries for the year to 79 aircraft for 32 customers.
February's deliveries cover a diverse range of aircraft, including one A350-1000 and one A350-900, two A330-900s, 21 A321neo, 18 A320neo and six A220s, exceeding the February 2023 total by three aircraft. Compared with the same period last year, Airbus has thus increased its deliveries by 13 aircraft in 2024.
Among the highlights, British Airways welcomed its 18th A350-1000 on February 21, which promptly entered service on the London Heathrow - Boston Logan route. Turkish Airlines received its 17th A350-900, while Cebu Pacific and lessor Avolon took delivery of two A330-900s, the latter destined for Condor to support the airline's transatlantic expansion.
IndiGo distinguished itself by being the only customer to receive more than one aircraft in February, with two A320neo. In addition, 19 of the 49 aircraft delivered were handed over to leasing companies, who will place the aircraft with other operators.
With Airbus aiming to deliver over 800 aircraft by 2024, the company needs to maintain a pace of over 71 deliveries per month to achieve this goal, after totaling 735 deliveries in 2023. Shortly after the close of February, American Airlines boosted this ambition with an order for 85 A321neo aircraft, marking a good start for the manufacturer in its quest for the annual target.
